July 18th, 2007 The Renovations are DONE!!! (mostly)
  • THE BASEMENT IS OPEN!!
We have finished our renovations and our basement facilities are now open to the public. The consoles have been moved into the basement to make room for more Internet and BYOC computers upstairs, coming in August. In our basement facilities, we now offer the following services to all customers:

    CONSOLE GAMING:
We have expanded our console selection to 13 stations, increased the number of games available to over 300, and added a HD TV. Birthday Parties have tons of space to celebrate, with tons of games and consoles to choose from. Consoles in the basement include PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, Ps2, Game Cube, and Xbox. There is something for everyone!

    COMPUTER UPGRADES AND REPAIRS:
With over 12 years of experience repairing and configuring our computers, we are now brining our expertise directly to out customers. With a hourly rate of $40, and no repair at more than $120 (labour only), even an older computer is worth fixing. Most repairs will be done in under 48 hours, including installation of new components! Call or come in to see the cost of your next upgrade, and what used parts & peripherals we have on sale.

    TABLE TOP GAMING:
AD& D, Warhammer, Miniatures, Board Games, Magic the Gathering, and Card Games. We have the space for them all, with two 4 X 8 tables with up to 8 chairs at each table. With all the food choices, your Role-playing session can go on all night long!!

    GAME TRADES & SALES:
Bring in your used console games, and trade them for time on either the consoles or the computers. Looking for a game? Give us a call and see if we have it in stock.

Basement Hours: Remember our main floor is open 24 / 7!
    Mondays: 9am to 12 am
Tuesdays: 9 am to 12 am
Wednesdays: 9 am to 12 am
Thursday: 9 am to 12 am
    Friday: Open 24hours
    Saturday: Open 24 hours
    Sunday: Open 24 hours

April 16th, 2007 Motivation for Participation in our Renovation!
  • Our relentless renovation workforce continues to attack our basement with endless vigor. Walls have been destroyed! Wires exposed! Couches torn asunder!

If you have been in the store lately, you’ve probably heard some of the loud, almost INHUMAN sounds coming from the bowels of our establishment.

But these machinations do not come without their difficulties. Amidst the dust and din, we have found ourselves wavering in our resolve. Perhaps “The console cavern” ISN’T the best name for our subterranean fun zone.

So, we turn to you, our loyal customers. Perhaps YOU can help us give name to that which currently exists, nameless.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1. It is downstairs, not up. Perhaps your name could suit the “downstairs feel”. This probably means that naming it “Pie in the sky” or “Hovering chamber which is not downstairs at all” is probably a bad idea.

    2. We are planning on putting our console gaming down here. This means that the Xbox, Playstation and Wii will be the proprietary source of entertainment. This also means that we will not be growing flowers, so “The Flower Shoppe” is also not likely to be a winning entry.

    3. You shouldn’t use profanity. I won’t provide an example, you should just KNOW BETTER.

The person who submits the best name for the basement will not only win free time for use in our store, but will also have the satisfaction of knowing that they named the new area, and had a direct impact on the store!

Entries can be submitted in store, or online. For online submissions, visit our forums at:

    http://head2headgames.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=453&PN=1&TPN=1

Good luck, and thanks for your continued patronage!

  • We ran 2 pools of 6 players. Each pool consisted of 3 matches, 20 minutes or 50 kills to win.

The first map was Beaver Creek. The winner of this round was Raigns with a score of 43, a close second was El Elgido, his brother, with a score of 42. The Second map was Midship, the winner again was Raigns, pulling in 50 kills before the match was over. Again second went to El Elgido. The other 4 players were very close in score with: Church at 29, NOKYARD at 26, Simons at 24 and Baatman coming in with 8. The third map was Lockout. Again, Raigns hit 50 kills before the match was over and El Elgido came in second with 31 kills.
The top two players, Raigns and El Elgido, made it into the finals.

The second pool played the same maps in the same order. In the first match, first went to Stupidaty ending the game with 50 kills before the time ran out. Second place went to A_Retard, with a kill count of 37. The next map, came in with the same two leaders, WITH THE SAME SCORES! The third round was close, as it appeared some of our contestants were working together to help everyone get a high score. The winner, Stupidaty ended with 43, A_Retard ended with 40, snowman with 39, Buddha with 20, Aitken9 with 18 and last but not least, The Copper Kid with 6.
The top two players, Stupidaty and A_Retard, made it into the finals.

  • The final round, between Raigns, El Elgido, Stupidaty and A_Retard lasted for More than an hour. The maps played were; Beaver Creek, Midship, Lockout, and Ivory Tower. All players played competitively and fair. The first match was left by Raigns at 43, and the other three players with close scores. El Elgido had 26, Stupidaty had 22, and A_Retard had 20. The second match ended short with Raigns getting 50 kills. The third map was again won by Raigns, with 39, but a close second from Stupidaty with 30. June 25, 2006 Tournament recap from the Intel 5K CS 1.6 Event.
  • 5 teams descended upon Head 2 Head Games to compete in the Intel 5K CS 1.6 Tournament. NLi, Kobra Kai Gaming, Hygo, Toohigh, and Game Face competed in a double elimination tournament that saw many interesting matches.

The first match pitted NLi versus Hygo against each other, while the other 3 teams received a bye. NLi won 16 – 11 on Inferno. Kobra Kai Gaming met the winner NLi in the next match, while Toohigh and Game Face played out their first match. NLi continued their winning streak, sending Kobra Kai Gaming to the lower bracket in a decisive16 – 4 win. Game Face worked hard to win their 16 – 13 match versus Toohigh, which placed them against NLi in the upper final, where NLi once again beat their competition in a 16 – 5 victory.

In the lower bracket, Toohigh won 16 – 5 over Kobra Kai Gaming, making Kobra Kai the first to be eliminated from the tournament. Toohigh moved on to play Hygo, who had a BYE in their first lower bracket match. In a close game, Hygo defeated Toohigh 16 – 9, making Toohigh the 4th placed team in the tournament.

After their defeat at the hands of NLi, Game Face moved to the Lower bracket finals to play Hygo, who had just beat Toohigh. In a very closely contested match, Hygo showed their skills by besting Game Face 16 – 10, making it the longest match of the tournament. Hygo then met NLi in the Tournament finals, knowing they would have to win not 1 but 2 games to move onto Sunday’s online final. NLi, after a 3 hour break while the lower bracket played out, was still in the zone, and efficiently won the tournament in a 16 – 2 victory.

In the Online finals on Sunday, NLi competed against 7 other teams from Game Centers around North America. Although they gave it their best effort, the were not able to win in either of their matches, but left the tournament $300 richer for their efforts.

Congrats to all the teams who participated and we hope to see you back at one of our future tournaments.

August 20th, 2005 The party is over, yet the fun continues
  • Yesterday's 10th Anniversary Bash saw over 500 people come into Head 2 Head Games, while over 400 enjoyed the concert in the street. The turnout for the tournaments was fantastic with over 50 players each for both Halo 2 and Battlefield 2.

  • The Intel Seasons of Extreme tour was a great success. From the moment the doors opened, until even after the event closed at midnight, there was a line-up to try out one of the 7 Dual Core machines.

EB Games brought tons of giveaways and passed them out to the crowds all day long! The winners of the tournaments received $50 EB Gift Certificates.

Thanks to the folks from DICE Canada, including programmers and artists who joined in the Battlefield 2 Tournament and came 2nd and 3rd.

  • The outdoor concert started a little late, but with a great band. The threat of a possible storm or tornado, kept some people away, but over 200 people were in the audience as the concert began. Throughout the night, people from all over downtown joined the audience with over 400 listening in over the duration of the evening.

Icewater entertained all with 5 songs before they had to head out to a second gig!! They got the night off to a rocking night, and set the stage for a great concert!

Cicadae (Head 2 Head Games house band) started off their set with a few old favorites, then moved into some original songs. With this being their first public performance, they did a fantastic job. Any butterflies they may have had were not apparent to the audience!

Paris Burning tore up the stage with a performance that brought people into the street. Sean, Head 2 Head's Manager, liked them so much he just had to buy a T-Shirt!!

Never Seems Happy closed out the night with a 1 hour set. People walking down Dundas gathered to listen as the night vibrated with their music echoing off the buildings downtown!!

August 19th, 2005 HEAD TO HEAD AND MICROSOFT CANADA UNLEASH DUNGEON SIEGE II® ON LOCAL GAMERS
  • North America’s oldest computer gaming centre celebrates 10th anniversary with newly released RPG

HEAD 2 HEAD GAMES TEAMS WITH MICROSOFT CANADA FOR DUNGEON SIEGE II® GAME PREMIER, AUGUST 19, LONDON, ON.

LONDON, ON – August 19, 2005 - Head 2 Head Games, North America’s oldest computer gaming center, is hosting a huge bash for its 10th anniversary on August 19, and will be giving gamers a sneak preview of Microsoft’s Dungeon Siege II®, the newest installment of the hugely popular Dungeon Siege series.

Head 2 Head Games is a member center of iGames, the world’s leading game center organization. The official game premier of Dungeon Siege II® which is being hosted by over 40 iGames member centers across North America occurs on Saturday August 20th.

Gamers are invited to come to Head 2 Head for a free three-hour session from 11 am–2 pm, where they can sample Dungeon Siege II® both in single player and multiplayer mode, taking advantage of Revolutionary Online Multi-Party Gaming, where players can play on LAN or online to work cooperatively, or competitively, to complete quests. A second three-hour session will be run from 8 pm-11 pm, with pizza and pop available for all participants.

In Dungeon Siege II®, the sequel to the best-selling RPG from Gas Powered Games, you will be called on to again wield sword and spell to save the world from a growing abomination many years in the making.

A thousand years ago, the crusaders of Azunai crossed swords with the legions of Zaramoth in the final battle of a century-long rebellion. As the tyrannical god Zaramoth struck the final blow through Azunai’s trembling shield, the earth shook. In that moment, the forces of magic were unchained, and both armies were consumed in a brilliant cataclysm that stretched for leagues across the Plain of Tears. Only a scarred wasteland remained as final testament to the First Age of Man.

And for a millennium, magic has continued to spread to the farthest corners of the world, freely flowing to any who would command it. But the tide of magic has begun to wane, heeding instead the call of an ancient legacy. From the Plain of Tears a new heir beckons, and with each day his strength grows – consuming all those who submit, eradicating those foolish enough to resist. With none to oppose his ascendance, the circle will be complete, and an ancient age will begin anew.

  • Today's London Free Press Business Section features an article about our upcoming event!! Check out the link here or read it below!
  • Computer gamers spill into street

HANK DANISZEWSKI, Free Press Business Reporter 2005-08-17 02:09:42

London's computer gamers will charge out of cyberspace and take over the downtown Friday night.

That's when Head 2 Head Games, the continent's oldest computer gaming centre, celebrates its 10th birthday with a street bash, sponsored by technology firm Intel's Seasons of Extreme Tour.

Dundas Street from Clarence to Wellington streets will be closed after 6:30 p.m. to make way for rock bands, free computer gaming and a display of the latest gaming technology from Intel.

Centre owner Carol Bennett expects the event to draw at least 500 people. In the fast-growing industry of computer gaming, her business is a pioneer. Head 2 Head is the oldest gaming centre in North America, according to IGames, an association representing 600 gaming centres.

Bennett said gaming centres bring gamers together as a community and are nothing like the seedy and notorious video arcades of the 1980s. "I would compare us more to a community centre than an old video arcade . . . Our job is to get people out of basement and come out and socialize. "
Her staff know most customers by name, she said, and a lot of friendships have started at her business.
"Sitting beside someone brings a whole new level to computer games. It's a great place to hang out."

Only about 25 per cent of her customers are under 18 and families feel welcome, said Bennett. Father-and-son combinations are common, but mothers and sons also come in to play multi-player simulation games such as The Sims series.
Computer gaming is a $66-billion industry and has overtaken the motion picture industry in size. New games are rolled out like movie premieres and some even have their own accompanying soundtracks.

A new game called Dungeon Siege II will be premiered at Friday's event.

Head 2 Head opened in 1995 in the back of a hobby store on Clarence. Now it's at 246 Dundas St. and open 24 hours a day.
The business has grown from four to 42 computers and six consoles. The number of employees has grown from one to 12.
Bennett is hoping to turn the street bash into an annual downtown event.

Janette MacDonald, manager of Mainstreet London said another downtown event would be welcome.
She said Head 2 Head has thrived by steadily building a customer base. "Anyone who has been around 10 years must be doing something right," said MacDonald.
